The chatter online was all about the polar vortex. The blustery chill was here in Suffolk but it was nothing compared to farms I follow online. I watched folks moving chickens into their garage. Chickens were knocking items off of shelves and having a real home wrecker of a party! If I had to put the Ladies of Cluckingham in the garage, I would not expect anything less than the chickens plowing through the garage door with the lawnmower.
The finishing of the attic is nearing its end. Who knows…I may actually pack up Christmas soon. Our cool neighbors came over with their ditch witch and helped us dig a ditch for the last piece to the automatic gate opener. The last piece is a magnet that detects vehicles leaving and opens up the gate automatically.
Seven weeks left until our first round of lambs! The ladies are filling out their wool suits nicely. During the last 8 weeks is when the lamb is built in the womb. Meaning: high demands of energy and protein are needed by the mother for a healthy lamb and easy birth. Sometimes getting energy and protein correct is a tricky business but I am working on it. So far…so good.
